\nUn bal\u00f3n de f\u00fatbol vuela entre zapatos tenis cubiertos de polvo y golpea contra un port\u00f3n pintado como una porter\u00eda. Sonrisas y gritos bailan sobre las caras de los j\u00f3venes jugadores. Las calles de Cerro Placeres, en Valpara\u00edso Chile, son los espacios para jugar y crecer, como muestra el cortometraje \u201cEl Port\u00f3n\u201d. <\/p>\n

Estos espacios est\u00e1n frecuentemente restringidos por pandillas, el desarrollo industrial y las vidas lejanas de residentes mayores. \u201cEl Port\u00f3n,\u201d basado en las experiencias reales de chicos de Cerro Placeres, muestra una gama de soluciones creativas para abrirse espacio para jugar. Este cortometraje es el fruto de una proyecto de tres semanas de La Poderosa Media Project en colaboraci\u00f3n con Junto Al Barrio (JAB), una organizaci\u00f3n que promueve el liderazgo comunitario e involucramiento en proyectos sociales. <\/p>\n

Estas tres semanas le dieron a un grupo de chicos de Cerro Placeres la oportunidad de formar parte del proceso de creaci\u00f3n de un cortometraje y representaci\u00f3n art\u00edstica de sus propias realidades. Los chicos aprendieron a usar una c\u00e1mara de cine, escribir un guion, desarrollar personajes y representarlos. Para muchos, el cine fue una nueva manera para expresarse. Sebasti\u00e1n, de 13 a\u00f1os, dijo que el proyecto le dej\u00f3 relajarse y \u201cno tener tanto miedo frente a otra persona.\u201d <\/p>\n

Chris Coppiano, un estudiante de literatura en la Universidad San Francisco de Quito, quien ayud\u00f3 con el proyecto, dice que en general \u201clas artes son muy mal vistas\u201d en el \u00e1rea entonces el proyecto, que reuni\u00f3 a padres e hijos en la producci\u00f3n del cortometraje, espera cambiar esta mentalidad para abrir nuevas puertas en los futuros de los chicos.
\nEn el corto, un carro no deseado es estacionado en frente de la \u201cporter\u00eda\u201d de los chicos. Ellos lo reciben con una multa falsificada, grafiti, globos de agua y otras formas l\u00fadicas de negociaci\u00f3n con el due\u00f1o del auto. El cortometraje trata de combatir la narrativa de violencia que es perpetuada por la cultura de pandillas para proveer a los chicos con otra manera de relacionarse con sus vecinos. Paulina, de 12 a\u00f1os, dice que ha aprendido c\u00f3mo \u201cocupar la imaginaci\u00f3n para escribir historias que no siempre tienen que ver con la muerte y todo eso\u201d. <\/p>\n

\u201cEl Port\u00f3n\u201d fue mostrado junto a \u201cLa pic\u00e1,\u201d otro cortometraje de La Poderosa en el Festival de Cine de Valdivia, que ocurri\u00f3 del 10 a 16 de Octubre, 2016. <\/p>\n

A soccer ball flies between dusty tennis shoes and hits home on a metal doorway painted over as a goal post. Smiles and shouts dance across the faces of the young players. The streets of Cerro Placeres, in Valparaiso, Chile, are the playing and growing spaces for these kids, as shown in the short film \u201cEl Port\u00f3n\u201d (the doorway). <\/p>\n

These spaces are often restricted by gangs, industrial development, and the distant lives of adult residents. \u201cEl Port\u00f3n,\u201d based on a real experiences of children from Cerro Placeres, shows the creative solutions that kids find in order to carve out a place of play for themselves. This film is the fruit of a three week project of La Poderosa in conjunction with Junto al Barrio (JAB), an organization that promotes community leadership and involvement in social projects. <\/p>\n

These three weeks gave a group of children from Cerro Placeres the opportunity to engage in the process of making a film and artistically representing their own realities. The children learned how to use a film camera, write a script, develop characters and then represent them. For many, film was a new way to express themselves. Sebastian, age 13, said that the project let him loosen up and \u201cno tener tanto miedo frente otra persona\u201d(not have so much fear in front of other people). <\/p>\n

Chris Coppiano, a literature student at the Universidad de San Francisco de Quito who helped out with the project, says that in general \u201clas artes son muy mal vistas\u201d (the arts are very badly viewed) in the area and so the project, which brought together parents and children in the production of the film, hoped to change this mentality in order to open up new pathways for the children\u2019s futures. <\/p>\n

In the film, an unwanted car parked in front of the children\u2019s \u201cgoalpost\u201d is met with forged tickets, graffiti, water balloons and a series of other playful negotiations with the owner. The film tries to combat a narrative of violence that is perpetuated by gang culture in order to provide the children with other ways of interacting with their neighbors. Paulina, age 12, says that she has learned how to \u201cocupar la imaginaci\u00f3n para escribir historias que no siempre tienen que ver con la muerte y todo eso\u201d (use her imagination to writes stories that don\u2019t always have to do with death and all that).
\n\u201cEl Port\u00f3n\u201d was featured alongside \u201cLa pic\u00e1,\u201d another of La Poderosa\u2019s short films at the Festival de Cine de Valdivia which occured from the 10th-16th of October, 2016. <\/p>\n
